Did Sony copy the Wii controller? Not according to Kaz Hirai, President and CEO of SCEA. In the latest issue of Official Playstation Magazine (OPM) he explains the history of the PlayStation controller, and how it has come to have the features we see in the PS3 version.

    That's right, they didn't copy. They stole. :) I don't have an issue with that; it happens all the time. As long as improvements are made, it's not an issue. Lying about it is just pathetic, though. C'mon, Kaz... It seems like an awfully interesting tidbit to keep secret when the PS3's initial Banana-design controller was unveiled. Especially since it involves the removal of another long-sanding controller feature: rumble. I guess they can't call the PS3 controller "DualShock 3"... there's no more "shock" involved.
